A Message From Our President
I have the honour and privilege to be
President of one of the leading service clubs in the city of Ottawa.
The Rotary Club of Ottawa was founded in
1916 and has served both Ottawa and the International Community throughout
those years.
We are currently spearheading efforts to build the Rotary Home;
a new respite facility for families with children and young adults with
physical disabilities. Internationally, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation
and the World Health Organization have teamed up with Rotary in their
efforts to eradicate Polio throughout the world.
Among the many other community service
projects we are involved in, we are very proud of our Adventure and
Citizenship program which has seen our club host 225 students annually from
across the country for the past 59 years. Many of these participants have
become leaders in their chosen professions, be it business or in politics.
Our membership represents a broad cross
section of today’s business and professional leaders.
Research has shown each of our members
have joined our club for a variety of different reasons; whether it was for
friendship, fun, personal development, business contacts, or the informative
speakers at our meetings. However, most have joined for the opportunity to
give back to the community through personal participation.
